I can give several instances from the Bible to support that piercings (mainly ear rings) are ok. Lets start with 1 Cor. 6:12 12"Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything. That covers most things but as Carl said, discernment and prayer will help you know the difference.
Now for Biblical reference of piercing:
Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."
Notice that he says "sons"? That must mean that men wore earrings as well as women.
And again in Judges 8:24
And he said, "I do have one request, that each of you give me an earring from your share of the plunder." (It was the custom of the Ishmaelites to wear gold earrings.)
Now for the most telling eveidence... First some background. This chapter in Ezekiel is an allegory of Christ and His bride. In verse 11, He starts talking about how He will adorn his bride. Ezekiel 16
11 I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, 12 and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13 So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was fine flour, honey and olive oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen
Here we see that the bride of Christ has earrings and a nose ring. If these things are proper and ok for the bride of Christ, they must then be ok for us as well.
Here is another way to look at earrings.
5 "But if the servant declares, 'I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,' 6 then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.
16 But if your servant says to you, "I do not want to leave you," because he loves you and your family and is well off with you, 17 then take an awl and push it through his ear lobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your maidservant.
We as Christians are willing servants of our master Jesus Christ. We have been set free and can choose to go if we want. However, we have choosen to stay and serve our master. The earring is symbol that we are His servant for life.
So, that is my opinion of ear rings. Now if you had other piercings in mind, I think that most are just a personal preference and are covered under thet first verse I listed and as such, the Holy Spirit will let you know those that are wrong or improper. (In my opinion, there are some piercings that are wrong). Hope this ansers your question.
Faith is not believing that God can. It is knowing that God will.
