TATOOS??

Postby nate_RS » Wed Jun 11, 2003 10:55 am

okay so here is the deal: I have been tossing around the idea of getting a tatoo, but am not quite sure. My Mom seems to think it is a horrible idea but no one else has really said yay or nay. I know that my body belongs to God. I also know that a tatoo is forever. But any and and all opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nate....what's your age, and if your mom says she doesn't think it's a good idea and you are still under her roof...honoring your mother takes precedence over anything you feel you wish to do with/to your body.

what cally said... maybe if you found a good appropriate tattoo and showed her that it's a good tatt then your mommy will reconcider/something...

Well, I am 20 years old, I really respect my Moms opinion though. As cheesey as it seems I really like the flaming dove on the Disciple cover. I have been doing alot of weight training lately and wanted to put it on my upper arm. There was also a really cool cross I found that I wanted to put on the middle of my back. Thanks for the replies. :D

Yeah, I wanted to get the flaming dove with the word "saved" behind it in a font that I thought up during class last semester.

I was also thinking of putting a pretty big cross between my shoulder blades with Phillipians 4:13 behind it.

I am praying about it, but as of yet I am still unsure.

Tatoos

Postby Vickie Easterday » Thu Jun 12, 2003 6:05 am

nate_RS : I'm 45 and I've decided to get a tatoo. I wrestled with this because my husband is totally against it. But God had been speaking to me " Let the spirit of the Lord descend upon you in a flame of fire." So, when I finally came to a decision I kept seeing the Disciple dove. And when I purchased my computer and asked my daughter's boyfriend to sign me up online He penned my e-mail name.... Disciple Dove ! I took that as confirmation from God that it was okay. I feel God looks at what's written on our hearts, not what's on our skin! I will tell you that my daughter's b-friend will be 19 and lives at home... he wants to get a tatoo but his parents told him they would kick him out of the house if he did get one. But, at the age of 17, he and my daughter( who was 20 at the time) had a child together. They didn't kick him out of the house for that! In my opinion, that's some pretty twisted logic! At any rate, if you live at home, honor your parents wishes, hopefully you won't live at home forever!

Do you have any tatoos? Would you be against your wife wanting a tatoo? Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated, as I will use them for future reference! LOL !!!!

you really DON'T want me to answer that!! I'm not your TYPICAL male....and my views don't necessarily fit with the majority of men. My only advice if this arguement is used against you ...."Wives submit yourselves to your husbands" is this that only applies until it interferes with God! and I don't believe this is a God issue therefore the scripture would stand wouldn't it? That doesn't mean your his whippin post, or that you're his slave or servant. Personally....I consider my wife an equal, and I love her as Christ loves the church...I do for her out of love, out of sacrifice. She is not my posession, but she is my passion, and I do NOT tell her what she can or can not do. She is an individual who is grown up and who lives with her decisions. I can't tell my friends what to do...what makes me think I can tell her what to do just because we are married. So no...I wouldn't TELL her what to do. That's not my style! I'm not agressive, but I won't be walked on all the time either. I'm unique! :D

Wow! your response was very eloquently phrased! God bless you for letting your wife be her own person!

PS... Ask her if she'd like to go to Terre Haute, Ind. with me to get a tatto...done by Brad's very own tatoo artist LOL ! I've seen his work, he's really good at what he does!

I actually agree with all that you said. Really I do. I guess that makes me unique just like you.

I feel that tattoos can be very spiritual if the meaning is behind them. And they serve as a road map of memories to me to remind me of my life and the journey that I have been blessed to travel. The good times and even the really bad. God has a reason for it all and I dont think tattoos are wrong. I have 18 (56 hours) so far and I have just designed 2 more for myself that I am wanting to get done. As it has been said before in here" What a great tool for witnessing is a tattoo" and I agree.
Give all for the ONE, ONE gave all for you,
Live for the ONE, ONE died for us all,
Rejoice and Praise Jesus For he is the ONE and only Lord.

I've told this before on this site, just can't remember where...I got a tat of the word "Disciple"(and their logo too) across my left wrist with the fish wrapped around the under side to make it look like a bracelet. Sher said, "gosh, I hope you don't ever get mad at us" oh well if I do...it's too late now! (not a chance of that happening though ;) ). As of yet, I don't regret it! Don't think I ever will either! I always want others to know that I am a "Disciple" for Christ...when He sent his Disciples he told them to go be fishers of men...well there's my tat..."Disciple" on the top...fish around the bottom. That's one of the reasons I did it...of course the other is because Disciple is the best band on the planet! :p Gotta love em :!:
